Day-by-Day Itinerary

  1. Day 1

    Paro to Jele Dzong

    Trek from the trailhead near Ta Dzong up through forest to camp near the ruined Jele Dzong.

  2. Day 2

    Jele Dzong to Jangchulakha

    A ridge walk with views of Paro valley and, on clear days, distant Himalayan peaks.

  3. Day 3

    Jangchulakha to Jimilangtsho

    Continue along yak pastures to camp beside Jimilangtsho lake, known for its trout.

  4. Day 4

    Jimilangtsho to Simkotra

    Pass further lakes and grazing grounds en route to camp at Simkotra Tsho.

  5. Day 5

    Simkotra to Phajoding

    Climb over Phume La before descending to the cluster of monasteries at Phajoding.

  6. Day 6

    Phajoding to Thimphu

    A final descent through blue pine forest into the capital, ending the trek.
