What to Pack for Bhutan

Layered clothing works best given Bhutan’s altitude range, along with sturdy footwear for temple visits and hikes.

Clothing

Layers are essential — mornings and evenings can be cool even in warmer months, and temperatures drop quickly at altitude. Modest clothing (covered shoulders and knees) is expected when visiting dzongs and monasteries.

Footwear and gear

Comfortable, broken-in walking shoes are useful even on cultural tours, given uneven temple courtyards and the Tiger’s Nest hike. Trekking itineraries call for proper hiking boots, a warm layer and rain protection.

Other essentials

A universal power adapter, sunscreen, and a refillable water bottle are all worth packing. We’ll send a tailored packing list once your specific itinerary and season are confirmed.
