Festivals of Bhutan
One of Bhutan’s most popular festivals is the Tshechu. The Thimphu Tshechu is among the grandest, featuring sacred mask dances performed by monks and laymen in vibrant costumes. Each Tshechu honors Guru Rinpoche, the saint who brought Buddhism to Bhutan. Locals gather in their finest Gho and Kira to celebrate culture, spirituality, and community.
Major Tshechus take place in Thimphu, Paro, Punakha, and Haa, while numerous smaller festivals occur throughout Bhutan — especially between September and November.
