TRASHIGANG

East and South

The eastern and southern regions of Bhutan remain largely untouched and offer a chance to experience the country’s authentic rural life.

In the East, explore remote communities such as Sakteng in Trashigang, home to the semi-nomadic highlanders and the legendary Yeti. Listen to stories of the mystical snowman and witness their unique traditions and attire.

The South, with its lush tropical forests, vibrant Hindu festivals, and diverse wildlife, provides a striking contrast to the highlands. Visit Samtse and Chhukha, both easily accessible from India, and meet the Lhop people — one of Bhutan’s earliest settlers.
